Mental Health Specialist Taiya Negron, alongside Prevention Specialists Eileen Buckley and Wanda Febus-Marrero, organized an 8-week Girls Circle group at Twin Towers Middle School. On Tuesday, May 20th, they concluded the Girls Circle group. They had the opportunity to work with an amazing group of girls!
Their focused theme for 8 weeks was friendship. Some of the activities included the girls making their own group guidelines, friendship collages, appreciation flowers, a chain of strengths, pair storytelling, and role playing with friendship problems and solutions.
The group had discussions on topics such as appreciating oneself, being included and being left out, embracing our similarities and differences as well as our qualities and strengths. The circle became a safe space for the girls (which was part of the goal). The girls provided great feedback and are interested in continuing the group next year! ❤
